A Poverty of Dignity and a Wealth of Rage (Friedman)

Moved to my scrapbook

(this applies in Saudi)

Bring a 13 year old boy, and send him to school with other rich kids who spend their money recklessly. The same money that would take the 13 year old boy's father a whole month to make.

bring that same 13 year old boy, make him understand the concept of social class - something against whatever he was taught in religeous classes. Let him realize that the only difference between him and those boys is the fact that their fathers happened to be ruling the country.

That 13 year old boy will one day be curious and ask "Why?"

His answers will be provided by the man who will take advantage of his agony and cater it to his purposes.

I was trying to explain to my Poli Sci professor that it boils down to the issue of "poverty of dignity and wealth of rage", yet I couldnt get my idea through. In this article Friedman spoke my mind. A well-written article.
